Austin Trail of Lights

Tis the season! If you’re in the Austin area, be sure to check out the Austin Trail of Lights. The event is a Christmas lights display that is held annually in Zilker Park, just across the Colorado River from downtown. It is a self-paced walk through the park, that covers approximately one mile.

There are several food and drink stations sprinkled throughout the event. It also has a carousel and ferris wheel that offers excellent views of the park and downtown. Weekend entry is $3 per person. December 17-19 is free admission.

Gates open nightly at 7pm and close at 10pm and runs through December 23rd. Parking is relatively limited and costs $15 per car. I recommend taking Uber or Lyft if you’re coming from somewhere that walking isn’t possible. It’s an easy walk or scooter ride from downtown.
