AC Hotel Tucson Downtown

AC is 1 of 29 different hotels in the Marriott portfolio. Marriott places AC in the “Distinctive Select” space, alongside the Moxy and Aloft brands. AC is marketed as ”Modern design for modern business. It’s a new way to hotel.”

The AC Hotel Tucson Downtown, which is a Marriott Rewards Category 3 property, opened late in 2017. It is centrally located in the middle of the revitalized downtown. Tucson has a definite college town feel, thanks to the University of Arizona which is just north of downtown. There are many great bars and restaurants in the surrounding blocks.

I took an Uber from Tuscon International Airport, so I didn’t have to deal with parking. It was an easy 15 minute ride. There is an onsite parking garage that costs $16 a day, or valet parking for $24.

The check-in process was quick and easy, and the staff was friendly. I received a $10 food and drink credit to be used in the lobby bar or restaurant, due to my elite status with Marriott. I was in Tucson visiting friends, so I didn’t eat at the restaurant at all during my stay, but used the credit to get a beer before heading out for the night. The lobby was very spacious, with ample seating.

The hotel had a European feel, which is a trademark of the AC Hotel brand, not surprisingly since it originally was a Spanish chain before being purchased by Marriott in 2011. I was upgraded to a high floor corner room thanks to my status. The room was spacious and ergonomic with a mini fridge, a hanging rack in lieu of a closet, a comfortable king bed, wall bench, and sitting area in the corner. There was an average sized bathroom with a single sink and large countertop. Hands down the best feature of the bathroom was the ceiling-mounted rain shower, in addition to an adjustable wall-mounted shower head.

The hotel had an outdoor rooftop pool and an adjacent outdoor bar and patio. It also had a workout room with several pieces of workout equipment and weights.

I was very impressed with this specific property and the AC Hotel brand. Definitely stay at the AC Hotel Tucson Downtown if you’re in the area, and look for an AC Hotel at your next destination. I will stay at this property again if given the opportunity and will actively look for other AC Hotel properties in the future.
